Sports Day

November 6, 2014

Today was Sports Day for the kindergarteners at SLP!
Sports Day is a big deal at the public schools here, but I’m not sure if all hagwons host one. For SLP it’s only done for the morning kindergarten classes and it’s the biggest non-academic event held all year.

None of the kindergarteners came to school today instead they met us at a gym nearby. Most of their parents came too! It was a lot of fun for me to see and meet some of the parents and it was really entertaining watching them play games with their kids. Some of the parents couldn’t come however, so me and the other teachers would stand in as their parent in the games that required it.

A lot of kids attend an after-school program called I Can Sports and SLP hired them to put on the Sports Day activities for us so thankfully we could just participate and not worry about much. It was a great morning with all of the kindergarteners. They had so much fun! I wish we could do more games and activities with them during the regular school day.
